International Children's Day Oct 1 - Field Day to the Relief Map of Guatemala.

Oct 1, 2004 our first International Children's Day Celebration.

Luz Elena Gomez and Herlinda Lopez prepared snacks for the children and gave them chuchito (a potato based tamal) and sodas to enjoy the day. Various sponsors donated for a clown and music. A singing and dancing contest was held for the children with donated toys as prizes. We sold raffle tickets to give away a electric iron. Copper Canyon Adventures and Maya Expeditions donated Shave Ice for the 300+ participants. Great fun was had by all.

The second activity was to take the children by public bus to the national park of the hippodrome where we saw the immense relief map of the country of Guatemala done in 1912. This activity was with the children's personal funds.

Thanks to our devoted members, our sponsors and our new director Luky, we have been able to realize the party for the International Children's Day each Oct 1, since our initial celebration. We hope to continue with this activity.
