Day 01: Meet at Maya Expedition's office at 6:30 am for 7:00 am departure* (No shows will not be refunded).
Board bus to Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla. Buffet breakfast in restaurant, your choice between Guatemalan or continental cuisine.
After breakfast, short drive to small village on the river where we give safety orientation and river instructions.
Board rafts for a full day of paddling through tropical lowland environment, full of lush vegetation. Catch a glimpse of the regal Black Hawk, the majestic Blue Heron or the rare Laughing Falcon, as we face the challenges through teamwork and maneuvering through the class II-III rapids.
Enjoy the picturesque scenery with spectacular views of many waterfalls cascading 150 feet into the Coyolate river below. Cold buffet lunch on the river banks. Arrive at take-out approximately 4:30 pm, transfer to hotel for dinner and lodging. Relive all the fun times and challenges as we recount each experience, and prepare for next day, to take on an even more challenging river.
Day 02: breakfast at hotel, and continue to the put-in on the Nahualate river (San Antonio, Suchitepequez). After safety and river orientation board the rafts for another exciting day. Join in a group effort in meeting the challenges of continual class three rapids, seemingly designed for the intrepid in search of tropical adventure. Arrive at take out and transfer to Hotel San Julian, where lunch will be served (lunch included). At the end of the day, board bus to return to Guatemala city.
*Note: If leaving from Antigua departure time is one hour later. Pick-up is at central park.
INCLUDED: All land transportation from Guatemala City or Antigua, and back. Meals as described in itinerary, hotels based on dbl or trpl occupancy, all river equipment, services of professional river guides and all personnel.
